Sarah Palin and her company refused to show up for the subpoenas over whether Palin had anything to do with the firing of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. This is very troubling on both sides of the aisle in Alaska. The Democrats are attempting to make this into a "gotcha" game and the Republicans are crying foul.
Palin, now in the national spotlight has withdrawn from cooperating with the investigation because of the biased way it is being done. This does not help perceptions as we turn towards the end of the election. If Palin wants to prove that she is hard hitting, wants to bring reform to Washington, etc.; then she must show a willingness to stand up in the fire and defend herself against her accusers. The evidence is there either it is for you or against you. Make it available to the public and let them decide and call the people out who are making this a smear campaign as opposed to a simple investigation.
The ad war between McCain and Obama will continue into the next week with the economic downturn. However, it is my opinion that the economy slumping will hurt Obama in the end as Bush is being blamed for the mess and McCain becomes even more disconnected from the Bush policies. Journalists actually have pointed out this week that McCain, not Obama spoke up about the impending danger that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were bringing to Wall Street. Of course, it is easy to see why congress didn't pick up on the warning signs since they are in session on average only two days a week.
So who are we voting for this election? The statement the present McCain isn't the one that was in the senate. Duh! Obama is getting the same comments from his base. Where is all the change? Where is the message of hope? Obama is now different. Duh! What did you expect, their message to stay the same when they had to carry their own political base and hope to win some independants in the meantime? I believe the fact is, McCain will be the same old McCain once he gets elected. Obama, however, is exactly who is right now. Very liberal and could care less about working both sides of the aisle. His statement today, that he wants to give
$50 Billion towards world poverty was mind boggling. Add that into his other eight, billion plus dollar programs and Herbert Hoover will look like the best president in the 20th century. Social justice and sentiment can not overrule common sense. Wishful thinking doesn't create money. You also can't get this money out of thin air, it has to come from taxpayers. So, the masks are on but know who we are voting for because in a second, they will come off and you shouldn't be surprised when true colors are revealed.
